Ascoporella Kruchinina, 1980

Type species: Geinitzella borealis Stuckenberg, 1895

Synonym of Ascopora

The genus was considered as a synonym of Ascopora by Nakrem et al. (2009). The name has continued to be used by Gorjunova (2011) with further added species. The second definition of the genus by Morozova and Kruchinina (1986), using Ascopora grandis Kruchinina 1973 as the type species, has complicated the issue: it appears that both of these species are better considered as species of Ascopora. The identity of the type species Geinitzella borealis Stuckenberg, 1895 remains doubtful - it may be a coral (A. Ernst, pers. comm.)

The species described as Ascoporella by Gorjunova (2011) need revisio.: At present, these species are referred to Ascopora. .
