Dimorphozoum Levinsen, 1909

Type species: Flustra nobilis Hincks, 1891

The genus has uncertain status. The colonies of the type species are constructed of two layers: a cheilostome layer and a ctenostome layer, back to back, in erect fronds. It seems to be clear that these are two different species in a commensal relationship. Subsequent authors have taken the name as applied to the cheilostome, and have considered that this species is closely related to the genus Beania. The great range of forms included in the genus Beania needs further revision, so the status of Dimorphozoum remains an open question.

This genus includes the species:

Dimorphozoum nobile (Hincks, 1891) Recent S. Africa WoRMS 471987
