Type species: Moyanopora hugoi Gordon & Taylor, 2015
Diagnosis: Colony encrusting, unilamellar. Autozooidal frontal shield comprising an interior-wall layer that partially overhangs the opesia on all sides, often constricted to leave a central hourglass foramen over the opesia. Small adventitious avicularia present on the zooidal margin, immersed in frontal-shield calcification. Ooecium recumbent, immersed in similar calcification. No spines. Recessed mural septula present.
