Type species: Sagenella membranacea Hall, 1851
The synonymy of the type species with Aulopora consimilis Lonsdale, 1839 is not accepted in Brood (1975). Snell (2004) considers this synonymy to be possible but unconfirmed until re-examination of type material.
This genus includes the species:
| Sagenella bohemica | (Prantl, 1933) | Early Devonian Emsian | Czech Republic |
| Sagenella consimilis | (Lonsdale, 1839) | Silurian | England, USA, Sweden |
| Sagenella elegans | Hall, 1876 | Silurian Wenlockian | USA Indiana |
| Sagenella heterogyra | (McCoy, 1850) | Ordovician/Silurian | England |
| Sagenella membranacea | Hall, 1851 | Silurian Wenlockian | USA New York |

I would be grateful for corrections to, or critical reviews of this information. This is not a 'final' version (an impossible ideal), but a working document.
