Type species: Defrancia vassiacensis d'Orbigny, 1850
The type species was placed in the genus Lichenopora by Walter (1972). Since then the genus concept of Lichenopora has been changed (Gordon & Taylor, 1997). Consequently, the status of this species (and therefore the genus) is subject to further revision.
The genus was reassigned to the Densiporidae by Taylor & McKinney, 2006.
