Membranipora membranacea (Linnaeus, 1767)

Membranipora membranacea is a cosmopolitan shallow-water species, found encrusting fronds of kelp, such as Ecklonia or Macrocystis. The first illustration is of a sample which has had the cuticle removed, and the colony has partially collapsed, showing the uncalcified sections of the lateral walls.
