Acanthodesia savartii (Audouin, 1826)

Acanthodesia savartii is recorded widely from the Recent and Neogene. Its generalised and simple morphology makes it a strong possibility that several taxa have been combined under this name, but a detailed study of the material has not been attempted. The specimen illustrated is from offshore southern Australia. The spikes are projecting parts of the substrate, a species of Celleporaria.
