Type species: Vincularia maorica Stoliczka, 1864
This genus includes the species:
(von Hagenow, 1851) | Late Cretaceous Maastrichtian | Netherlands | WoRMS 1412440 | |
sensu Canu & Bassler, 1927 | Recent | Philippines | WoRMS 1034824 |
The material used to define the genus Omoiosia was misidentified. In order to clarify its status, the material from the Philippines will need to defined as a new species. The Neogene fossil species Vincularia maorica from New Zealand is believed to belong to Chaperia. The information, including attribution to the Bryopastoridae, is a personal communication from Dennis Gordon.
This leaves some European fossil material referred previously to Omoiosia which needs restudy, particularly Eschara lepida Pergens, 1893 from the Maastrichtian of the Netherlands. Omoiosia elongata Canu & Bassler 1935, from the Miocene of Australia has been referred to Ogiva by Brown (1959).
