Smittistoma Canu, 1908

Type species: Eschara mortisaga Stolickza, 1862

This genus includes the species:

  1. Smittistoma microporum
    		2. Canu, 1908 Paleogene Eocene Lutetian France WoRMS 1408405
  2. Smittistoma "mortisagum"
    		3. Canu, 1908 Paleogene Eocene France WoRMS 1444016

Zágoršek & Gordon (2014) have shown that Eschara mortisaga Stolickza, 1862 belongs in the genus Adeonella.
The specimens used by Canu in erecting the new genus were misidentified.
The genus Smittistoma therefore needs a definition of a new type species. See the note by Harmer referenced below.
